Threadhopping with this character?: Go for it!

Fourth-walling this character?: Ask me. Due to the weird circumstances of his canon, he's already ICly aware of parallel universes as a concept and the idea that there could be more than one of him; manga/Brotherhood castmates or CRAU characters raising the question therefore wouldn't really be fourth-walling. Anything more meta than that counts, though.

Backtagging with this character?: I'm in an inconvenient timezone for DWRP with an erratic schedule, so I pretty much rely on backtags! For game threads, I'll usually try to keep tagging as long as you do, but I tend to be slow at the best of times and may accidentally let things slip through the cracks; if you want to poke me about any thread in particular, please feel free.

Hugging this character?: Sure! He may or may not take it well.

Giving this character a kiss?: Sure, if you want to.

Something more intimate?: Explicit smut: no, unless I approach you. Handwaved or fade-to-black: ask me.

Relationships?: All the CR! Plot it ahead of time or just let it play out, either way is fine with me. Friendships, romance, rivalries, passing acquaintances, raging hate-ons and any other negative CR, bring it. Romance will probably take a lot of development first, though - I'd appreciate it if you could run possible ships by me first, especially if you're aiming for incest or anything else potentially problematic.

Punching this character (provided they can fight back): Of course! What else is a shounen protagonist good for?

Injury?: In [community profile] ryslig, anything that leaves him alive is fair game. Otherwise, I'm generally okay with anything that he can fully recover from by himself (i.e. without needing a doctor or mechanic); for more serious injuries like broken limbs, and especially any lasting damage to his automail, please ask me.

Death?: Ask me, but I'll probably need convincing. Three times was enough.

Plotting?: HELL YES. The best ways to contact me are listed here!

Anything you shouldn't mention near this character?: He's generally kind of a judgmental little bastard, but in particular, he's not a fan of organised religion. If that's a touchy subject, stay away. (Also, conversations with him have a high chance of getting derailed in a hurry if you bring up his height. He isn't that short any more!)

Anything you need to know about interacting with this character?: His idea of contemporary is 1920s Germany, which may be an issue in certain settings.

Anything else: If something isn't mentioned here, ask! There's a good chance I'll be okay with it. ♥

Description )

Partial game timeline

  • Placeholder for now.
  • imperfect: (windswept)
    Not a complete rundown!
    • Obviously, changes in backstory - both recent (i.e. Germany) and not so recent.
    • Somewhat more subdued in everyday interactions until he's given a reason to get fired up, and prone to melancholy. Even when not actively angsting, he's generally more walled-off.
    • Considerably taller than he used to be! ...but still leaning towards the short end of average for his age, and unlikely to grow significantly more. He has no excuse for this besides heavy automail, bad luck and aversion to milk. In particular, he's never going to be taller than Winry...
    • Never permanently regained either of his missing limbs. As of the end of the movie, both are (ordinary, steel) automail, but the design is a little different to anything he used to have.
    • Sense of aesthetics is not especially macabre. From time to time it veers into goofy, though.
    • Not a technical pacifist, although he used to try.
    • Small but significant differences in his style of alchemy.
      • The energy for his transmutations is drawn from the souls of dead people passing through the Gate.
      • When he does use them, arrays and transmutation circles frequently look identical or similar, but the more complicated ones often incorporate long, flowing curves and shapes as well as the usual symbols and geometrical patterns.
      • A Philosopher's Stone isn't the same thing in his world, and the people who go into making one (or less refined variants, like a red stone) really are dead. As such, he probably isn't able to cast from lifespan.
      • Sometimes a transmutation might be physically taxing independent of rebound.
      • Remote alchemy might be possible...
    • Mild proclivities picked up in the last couple of years: rambling context-free anecdotes, alcohol.
    • Appearance-wise: pointier facial structure, shorter ahoge - but most people, even those who know him well, wouldn't consciously notice the difference unless he was standing next to himself. Tends to wear brown instead of red or black these days.
    imperfect: (better days)
    Assorted general headcanon
    • Born on the 27th January 1899 - in the Amestrian calendar, which isn't the same as the Gregorian calendar. He's already picked up the habit of telling people it's 1905 to avoid odd questions, though; it's not as if he has any paperwork to contradict that.
    • Right-handed, so the hand he writes with isn't dominant. When he started writing left-handed, he'd print most things just so they were legible. Years later, he's considerably faster and doesn't need to any more, but his handwriting remains on the scrawly side. He prefers chalk and a hard surface when he has the option, although he still favours pen and paper over typing, at which he's a little slow.
    • Naturally has something of a xenophobic streak, which he's aware of and usually manages to ignore. It extends to non-humans, provided he can actually tell.
    • All-round quick on the uptake, but especially when it comes to languages. In particular, he didn't know German the instant he passed through the Gate, and had to learn it the hard way. By the time of the movie he was near-idiomatically fluent, but still had a slight accent and some grammatical quirks that just weren't depicted; most native speakers would notice he was foreign after a few sentences at best. (On the other hand, his English was fine.)
    • The anecdotes he's used to relating were always restricted to the relatively light-hearted wacky adventures that he knew people would consider fantastical instead of creepy. He never breathed a word about anything that happened in the series after arriving in Ishval. The homunculi he might have described in passing, but not by name, and he's been completely silent about Dante (except obviously in front of his dad).
    • He doesn't drink that much. It's mainly social, plus occasionally when he thinks there's too much going on in his head for him to get to sleep otherwise, but normally he's just fine with juggling plenty of things in his head without it.
    • Drunk Ed is largely just regular Ed with a bit more of an inclination to ramble but not much less cageyness overall.
    • As far as Ed knows (leaving open the possibility that it just never came up), Alfons was an only child, and the alternate Ed who died in London wasn't any close relative of his.
    • Had a very brief thing with Noah not too long after the movie. They split up amicably.
